Africa Collect Textiles, or ACT for short, is an organisation based in Nigeria who collects, sorts, distributes and recycles textiles. By doing so, they prevent textiles from ending up in landfills or being burned: a huge burden on the global environment. ACT redistributes clothing to provide vulnerable communities with decent outfits, prepare materials for re- and upcycling, they design beautiful new products out of what was formerly considered ‘waste’ ánd ACT generates new jobs in collecting, sorting and upcycling. Wow.

I was happy to make them a one-minute long animated explainer way back in 2018. Since then, I’ve made illustrations for their collection bins and refreshed their branding to give them a futureproof and sophisticated look.

  • Branding

    Africa Collect Textiles had already been building its brand for a good couple of years. So it was time to refresh their branding in 2021. I revisited their logo, color palette and fonts giving them a more mature, trustworthy look. With some funky patterns and animations to top it all off.

  • Collection Bins

    For the actual textile collection bins. I’ve made the illustrations explaining what their purpose is on the front of the bins as well as the captivating pattern on the sides.

  • Animation

    Our collaboration started way, way back in 2018 with an one-minute animated explainer I made for ACT. It is still featured on their website today and explains the problem of textile waste as well as their solution.
